Hives Children and Treatment
In addition to their usual outlook as pink or red, lifted bumps on your child’s skin, hives are oftentimes found
alone or in groups, itchy, temporary and appear and disappear over a number of hours, and varied in size. Less
typically, the skin condition can be painful, sting and leave bruises. When it comes to hives children and
treatment, one should take the appropriate steps for better results.
A child with hives may have other indications depending on what is causing the hives. For instance, if a viral
infection is triggering the skin condition, then your child may have a cough, sore throat and/or runny nose.
Looking into hives children and treatment will generally require you to first observe and record the possible
causes or triggers (allergens) of hives in your child.
If notice swelling anywhere on your child’s face and/or throat, difficulty breathing in your child or your child
being very sick, you should seek immediate medical assistance, as this could be a severe allergic reaction that may
be life-threatening. If for a long time you do not seem to find any cause for the hives in your child, consult your
doctor and ask about other possible triggers and treatment alternatives.
Hives children and treatment will usually involve easing or alleviating symptoms, since most children will not
be able to tolerate the severe itching, and/or burning sensation typical of hives. Your child may be recommended an
antihistamine drug or simply a cool bath (to alleviate itching), to use mild soaps, and to avoid rubbing or heat,
which aggravates the condition.
