Remedy for Hives During Pregnancy
There have been longstanding remedies for hives during pregnancy. You can perform these simple and easy natural
home remedies all by yourself. They are all for the alleviation of the tremendous itching and swelling.
· Soak yourself in a tub with warm water and a cup of oatmeal. You can also try applying a paste of baking soda
and water in the area with urticaria and rinse it with cool water thereafter. This could allay the itch that you
feel.
· Dry skin tends to cause further itching that is why you have to try the use of a moisturizer as often as
possible. You can even refrigerate the moisturizer that you use so it becomes cold when you apply it to the
skin.
· Apply cool compress for a reduced swelling and inflammation. Prevent exposure to hot compresses as it could
worsen your symptoms of hives during pregnancy.
· Alternate use of regular soaps with a mild soap.
· You have to see to it that your clothes, bed sheets and linen are properly washed and rinsed. Residual
detergent can irritate the skin more.
Medications are used as well. They are utilized for the sole purpose of allaying the discomfort and are only
used in severe cases. Remember that prior to the use of medications, there must be a clearance from the OB- GYNE.
Most medications though are not advised as it may have harmful effects to the fetus.
· Class 1 or 2 corticosteroid ointments and creams are used in aggressive cases, while oral corticosteroids are
prescribed for the very severe cases.
· Less- potent antihistamines are also prescribed. This provides relief from the itch caused by hives during
pregnancy.
